How to use Preventi Remind

in your office

Possible Distribution Methods

Patients Scan QR Code

Health education with Preventi is the best way to improve health literacy and medication compliance.

Preventi will provide this laminated handout in which optometric technicians or front desk staff will ask the patient to scan and follow the instructions for the 30 sec. sign up.

With our mobile health intervention, Preventi

Staff Registers Patients

When a patient signs in/signs out, front desk staff will fill out registration form which will send the patient a text message. Staff will simply ask the patient to read up on their condition from the text that was just sent.

Doctor Asks Patients to Scan

Patients listen to doctors instructions more than the rest of the staff. This method will provide a printable RX pad where doctors will ask patients to sign up and read about their condition after the appointment.

Your goal is to improve health education within the office and beyond.

Our Recommendations

  • The waiting room provides an ideal opportunity for patients to educate themselves about their medical condition. This not only helps them understand the reason for their visit but also prepares them with questions to discuss with their doctors.

  • When staff members register patients, the process is more accurate. Some patients might be unsure about the purpose of their appointment. By having staff input their conditions, this confusion can be reduced.

  • Patients are more likely to heed advice from their doctors than from other staff members. Thus, doctors should always emphasize the significance of the text message education reminders and encourage patients to read the information every time they receive such a text.

  • When staff directs patients to familiarize themselves with their condition before seeing the doctor, it's crucial to ensure they comply. Once the doctor meets the patient, they should pose simple questions about the condition to verify if the patient has a foundational understanding of their condition.

Script for Handout

Using this approach, the staff provides patients with a document outlining the steps for the 30-second registration.

  • While you wait for Dr. Feelgood to see you, they want you to read up on your eye condition. If you are able, could you scan this code and follow the instructions?

  • While you wait for Dr. Dolittle to see you, she wants you to read up on your eye condition. If you are able, could you scan this code.

  • Hey John Smith, before you leave, I want you to scan this code because it is important to me that we continue your optical education beyond this visit.

Staff Sign-Up Script

When a patient enters the office, front desk staff or techs will input the patients information into the registration form and press “submit”. Don’t forget to notify the patient to check their text message and read up on their conditions before they see the doctor.

Hello Ms. Jackson, I am going to send you a text with a link to educational materials that Dr. Pierce would like you to review before your appointment

This method of distribution is best for new patients. Ideally, patients should educate themself before the doctor educates them, however for new patients, this method will certainly improve patient retention.

It is important to me that you read more about this eye condition. Scan the code and enter your conditions. Every time you get a text, be sure to re-educate yourself.
